His constant smile will be missed greatly.”

Laura Moberley, 42, was hired by Horry County Schools in 2018 as a Reading Loss Interventionist at Carolina Forest Elementary School.

According to her obituary, “She loved animals and had many pets. She enjoyed spending time with her horse, Elliot Mango and her Chinese Water Dragon, Kiwi. She loved going on adventures with her children. She enjoyed spending time in Murrell’s Inlet, watching the goats on Goat Island and being near the water. She also enjoyed doing embroidery.”

The three are survived by William Moberley, their father and husband.

Director of Strategic Communications and Community Engagement for Horry County Schools Lisa Bourcier said that students and faculty struggling in light of the Moberley deaths can take advantage of resources provided at the schools.

“Our students and staff are doing as well as can be expected after the tragic loss of a teacher and her two children. Our district has a team of counselors made up of professionals trained to help with the needs of students, parents, and school personnel at difficult times such as this,” Bourcier said. “Our counselors are available at the affected schools for any student or employee who may need or want assistance surrounding this tragedy. We have had a few students and staff take advantage of these resources over the last few days, but our school counselors are always willing and able to assist students and staff as needed.”

Mikayla Moscov, a public information officer for the county, said today that there are no updates on the case but that it is still under investigation.

On Friday, State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman, released the following statement to the public: “Our hearts go out to the Horry County community, which lost an elementary school teacher and her two children this week. We grieve with the school and district staff and hope that the community will rally together in this time of unthinkable loss and tragedy.”

According to their obituaries, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Moberley Family Fund C/O Carolina Forest Elementary School, 285 Carolina Forest Boulevard, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579, OR The Moberley Family Care Fund C/O Jennifer Lee at Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union. There is also a GoFundMe, according to the school system.
