Best-selling author Kristin Harmel to visit Conway for childhood literacy fundraiser

New York Times best-selling author, Kristin Harmel, will be in Conway on Saturday in support of Team First Book, a non-profit that works to provide new and used books to students in Horry County that are in need, according to a press release.

There are limited tickets left for the Spring 2022 Author’s Luncheon.

The event will take place at Wild Wing Plantation and tickets cost $40. They can be purchased at eventbrite.com. There are also purchase options for raffle tickets. All proceeds will go to support childhood literacy in Horry County.

“A staple for book lovers on the Grand Strand, this annual event has raised thousands of dollars to help purchase new books for underserved children in Horry County,” the press release stated. “As the only South Carolina division of the national non-profit First Book, Team First Book of Horry County has provided more than 120,000 new, unused books to local children since its founding in 1998.”

Harmel’s well-known novels include “The Forest of Vanishing Stars,” “The Book of Lost Names,” “The Winemaker’s Wife,” “The Room on Rue Amélie,” and “The Sweetness of Forgetting.”
